Every Apple device is getting a modern makeover.
Apple will launch its latest iPhones this month, and it’ll also be giving all its devices a very different look through a free software upgrade. The operating system software for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Apple Mac computers is receiving an update that Apple calls ‘Liquid Glass’, and it’s the most dramatic Apple redesign in a decade. Apple is also changing the way it numbers its operating systems, so they’ll now be numbered for the year ahead. That means the new iPhone software is iOS 26, alongside iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and macOS 26.

Switch on fast
It’s best not to wait too long if you’re thinking of buying Nintendo’s new console.
Nintendo’s Switch 2 gaming handheld has launched to rapturous reviews and when it went on sale in the summer, it caused huge queues and stock shortages. In spite of the relatively high price tag of just under £400, it sold out almost everywhere almost immediately. As it’s likely to be the must-have console for Christmas 2025, we may see more stock shortages in the run-up to the holiday shopping season. So, if you’re considering one as a gift for someone this year, you might want to buy early.

Ahead of the game
How to beat price rises on entertainment software.
Games are getting a lot more expensive. ‘Doom: The Dark Ages’ on PlayStation 5 is £69.99, ‘Mario Kart World’ for the Switch 2 is £74.99 and the highly anticipated ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ is rumoured to cost £90 or more when it launches for multiple consoles next year. One good way to cut the cost is to keep an eye out for special offers on gaming store cards, such as PlayStation Store gift cards or Microsoft Store cards. They’re often discounted during sales events and can be used to buy digital versions, which can sometimes be cheaper than physical copies.
